I sew toys (and sometimes clothing) for babies and children.

I wanted children to be able to be entertained when out and about without having to rely on technology

I have been creating since I was a teen (nearly 20 years now) and started Noble Cubs earlier this year.

 I usually sell through Facebook and markets, including the Handmade Expo

What makes what you do special or different? 

My pram /trolley bar covers a little different to what is available, my taggies can attach to straps/ loops and I include the slightly older kids. 

What is the most rewarding part of what you do? 

See kids playing (or wearing) what I've made. 

What is your favourite product that you make? 

I love my pram bar covers.

I make hand crafted earrings and necklaces

What inspired you to start your business? 

I had been sitting on the idea for a while and decided to take the plunge once people started commenting on my pieces and I love the idea of HANDMADE, I try to buy Handmade items where ever possible.

I sell them through my online store, The Handmade Expo and throughout shops around Rockhampton Yeppoon area

What makes what you so special or different? 

I make one of a kind pieces. The most I have made of one product would be two, so you are guaranteed to buy a piece knowing that you are all the only one wearing it. I also have styles and different size earrings for all ages!

What is the most rewarding part of what you do? 

Seeing the end result and people enjoying my products.

What is your favourite product that you make? 

Definitely the children's earrings, they are the most difficult but love it.

What is it that you make and what skills do you use? 

I’m a knitter (amongst a range of crafts) and so I started The Yarn Bar to supply beautiful yarns online here in Australia

What inspired you to start your business? 

I learnt to knit, crotchet and sew before I went to preschool. I remember with such pride those early creations...the crocheted hat that never seemed to get bigger, the wooly golf club covers made secretly in bed late at night as a gift for my dad, the toys that looked like "softies" before softies became fashionable, even the formal dress which at the time seemed so cool but is now so cringe-worthy satin and shoulder-pad fashion of the eighties.

Fast forward to my adult years and I still can't think of anything more wonderful than the joy and pride of making and giving to those I love!

The Yarn Bar was created out of the passion to share that creative spirit. I have always wanted to have a mixed craft business and live a life more creative and crafty.

I've started here with yarn in an online business. I wanted to focus on my first love - yarn and bring more beautiful yarns to Australia. I'm delighted my daughter Meg is helping me run the shop.

At the moment we are selling online through our web shop and popping up at the Ipswich Handmade Expo Market!

What makes what you do special or different? 

We are bringing some new yarns to Australia and making them accessible online

What isn’t rewarding? I love meeting and helping other crafters

Our weekly newsletter and blog (Mrs Jones, Craft Maven)…that’s two, but I love them both equally!

Only with friends over cups of teas at the moment, but we plan to run some pop-up knitting workshops (combined with cake and coffee) in the near future.

What is it that you make and what skills do you use?

Body scrubs, face scrubs, lip scrubs, foot scrubs and a muscle rub.

What inspired you to start your business?

I have sensitive skin and have found that if you want to use all natural products, which are made with quality ingredients, you have to spend a lot of money. I wanted to make quality products that people can afford. I think everyone should be able to use great skin care products without breaking the bank. I am also a little lazy when it comes to skin care, ask anyone I know and they will tell you, so I wanted something that is quick, easy and effective. My scrubs are the answer to that. A few minutes in the shower/bath/at the sink and you’re on your way to happier skin.

How long have you been ‘creating’?

I have been creating my products for roughly 12 months and selling them now for 3. I wanted to make sure that I was happy with my recipes, ingredients and that they have been tried and tested. I’d like to do a quick shout out to my husband, family and friends for being my guinea pigs!

Is it a full time/ part time/hobby or business?

I would say that I am currently in the stage of a hobby turning into a small business. I’ve just started this adventure and looking forward to everything that comes along with it.

Where do you sell your creations?

I currently sell my products on Etsy, Facebook, The Handmade Expo and also at other markets.

What makes what you do special or different?

I don’t use any chemicals or additives so it’s better for you and your skin. I use quality, natural ingredients in all my products and have priced my range so more people can enjoy great skin care. I personally feel a lot a businesses get lost in the money side of things.

What is the most rewarding part of what you do?

Helping people to have happier and healthier skin. More people are now able to get a little bit of pampering and skin care in their lives without spending lots of money or time. Everyone deserves that.

What is your favourite product that you make?

My coffee scrub. It was the first product I designed. It’s the reason I continued creating and adding more products to my range.

All hand made using local ingredients.

 Getting positive feedback from family and friends telling me that they love my scrub.  Was one of the reasons why I decided to start selling it at markets.
