Stallholder Profile Frame Creations WA

Todays stall holder profile is Laura from Frame Creations

Name: Laura Warman

Business name: Frame Creations

The suburb/town you live in: Baldivis WA

What is it that you make and what skills do you use?
I make custom made alphabet photography frames, we have over 400 letters to choose from, the letters are photo's that are taken of everyday objects that also resemble a letter. You can choose any word to be framed, children's names are very popular choices. The pictures are frames in beautiful rustic timber frames that are designed to last a lifetime.

What inspired you to start your business?
I really wanted to do something for myself, I have two young children so I knew that I didn't want to be working full time for someone else because I needed flexibility. Working for myself gives me that, along with job satisfaction and drive to achieve my goals.

How long have you been ‘creating’? Not long, only about a month so far....(WOW !)

Is it a full time/ part time/hobby or business? Part - Time

Where do you sell your creations? Online/markets
Facebook mainly and the The Handmade Expo Market in Rockingham

What makes what you do special or different?
It is unique, my items can be totally personalised and the customer can feel involved in the creation of their special piece.

What is the most rewarding part of what you do?
Making people smile when their frames are complete

What is your favourite product that you make? - All of them : )

Stallholder profile The Kandy Kidz

Stallholder profile The Kandy Kidz

Business Name: The Kandy Kidz
Address: Gatton, Qld

I will be attending my first Handmade Expo market on August 16th in Ipswich.

I try to make a range of assorted items for my stall so that it makes for interesting looking!

I am by trade a professional cake decorator, and trained in the USA ending up teaching for the past thirty years in Canada,New Zealand, China,Hong Kong and now in Australia.

Years ago I started making "Time Out" dolls that originated in the USA, the trend was new then but it has since slowed down, however, I am bringing them back!

The Cake Gift Boxes started out by thinking of ways to use up a lot of decorations I made in my business, something that would be attractive but have a practical use and a long shelf life. I personalize these creations by writing your message while you wait.

This is a part time hobby for me and I have done occasional markets on the Gold Coast and Ipswich.

For one on one teaching cake decorating or workshops I am available for hire!

We are a relatively new business and have only been making ‘strapz’ for about 3 months.

We make strapz for different occasions and functions.  Football supporters, camo, glow in the dark, reflective (safety) and we have a special Breast Cancer range to raise money for Breast Cancer research.  We also have a ‘Do it yourself’ kit which is great for kids.

What is the most rewarding part of what you do?
Meeting new people and seeing the joy on their faces when they just love what they see.  Watching kids see the strapz actually glow in the dark is awesome!

What is your favourite product that you make?
Dave: The sprapz that have a personal meaning.  When a customer identifies a strap that allows them to proudly support their team or cause.
Heidi: The ‘Do It Yourself Kit’.  I love it when customers come back to proudly show us their finished product.

Do you teach classes or workshops?
Yes!  We teach groups of up to 10 to make their own strap for a fee of $15 per person.  The workshop lasts for 1 hour and can be done at their own home or in ours.
