Stallholder profile Backstreet Energy

Stallholder profile today is for Backstreet Energy

Your name:  Nikki Dungar

Your business name website link: www.backstreetenergy.com.au

The suburb/town you live in now:
            Palm Cove, Cairns QLD

What is it that you make and what skills do you use?:
We make what we call ‘Power Bags’.  They are delicious blends of nuts, seeds and superfoods lightly toasted with organic coconut nectar & coconut oil.
I have always had a great interest in making wholesome, healthy foods that are based on the principle of eating real food, the way nature intended.
I’ve used my knowledge of researching nutrient dense whole food to created our unique blends for the ultimate healthy ‘grab-and-go’ snack food.

What inspired you to start your business?:
My business partner Deborah Storer approached me with the business idea.  We wanted to create an easy to eat, healthy snack food for busy people to help them feel energised and alive, (unlike many processed snack foods available)

How long have you been creating?:
We first had the idea about a year ago, and have recently starting selling our product.  We’ve had a great response from customers and retailers.

Is it a full time/part time hobby or business?:
Both Deborah and myself have other business. We manage Backstreet Energy as a part-time business.

Where do you sell your creations? :
We have a few local retailers around the Cairns area and south Queensland.  Recently we extended to the Northern Territory.  We sell at  local market including The Handmade Expo in Cairns.  Our Power Bags are also available to purchase on our website

What makes you so special or different?:
Our product is quite unique the way it combines together.  It is not a muesli or granola, nor is it a bar or ball, but a combination of all of these things.  It’s also healthy AND delicious!

What is the most rewarding part of what you do?:
I love to hear how our customer enjoy our product.  Mums have told me their primary age children can’t  get enough of it when they refuse to any other healthy foods.

What is your favourite product to make?:
I enjoying  seeing the deep chocolate colours of the Choc-o-licious when we mix in the organic raw cacao powder and the aroma that comes from the over when toasting

Do you teach classes or workshops?:

Yes, my business partner Deborah Storer teaches workshops on self-development and dancing class.
