ADDICTED TO:

Hello
I thought I would share my addictions with you.
1. Walking in the morning (this is a new thing for me and I hope I can keep motivated). It is hard work doing 5km and pushing a pram, but I feel good after it. May I recommend this new addiction to everyone who reads.
2. Taking photos on my walk (this is also a new thing). I see things in a whole different light. It's nice. May I also suggest that if you have a camera, take it everywhere with you as you don't know what you might come across.
3. Blogging. I can't believe how addictive it is. I love keeping everyone up to date with not only the goings on of the Expo, but random subjects.
Here are some more photos of my walk this morning.

I picked a beautiful red flower (not very good with species of plants/flowers)

I couldn't help myself and had to take a photo of this beautiful Jacaranda (that species of tree, i do know)

Can anyone guess where the waterfall is? I didn't even know it was there until this morning and I have been living in the area for almost 8 years. Put a comment on the post if you know where it is..I will reveal in the next day or so. Good luck guessing!

A Beautiful Part of Ipswich

Hello

I remembered to take my camera while I was out walking this morning and thought I would share these beautiful shots of the St Mary's Church. The Jacarandas are in bloom and the colours are just amazing.
It is these hidden treasures of Ipswich that make this place so very special.
If you haven't been to Ipswich before, there is so much to see and do. There is a lovely information centre on the left hand side as you come into the town, they have loads of information about the town and a huge list of things for you to see and do. You can also check out this website: www.discoveripswich.com.au.
So come on down to The Handmade Expo on Saturday November 15th. Make a day of it and do some Ipswich site seeing.
Happy touring.

The Perfect Paper Place

Hello

We really like to support the small businesses that support us by mentioning us on their websites/blogs and even placing flyer's on their counters and windows.
This week, a plug goes out to The Perfect Paper Place. You can find them at Raceview Shopping Centre, 64 Raceview Street, phone 32880019 or email: ppp8@bigpond.com. They can supply all your card making, scrapbooking and invitation needs.
They are yet to get a website up and running, but when they do, you will be able to find them in our supporters section of our blog.
So a big thanks to Leanne and Sue for supporting The Handmade Expo and we hope that our avid readers and supporters will show their support too in your new business venture.

NATIONAL BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION HIGH TEA - TINA WILSON from MORE-ISH

Hello

We were lucky enough to be invited to a High Tea at Tina's home on Saturday (Micky couldn't make it, but Liesa and Miriam attended). With a dress code enforced (something pink), we grabbed our pink shoes and handbags and headed on over. Upon entering the pink premises, we were attracted to the entrance...over the entrance was hanging a BIG set of pink BOOBS!!! mmmm, and so the afternoon began. With pink champagne flowing (and punch), the food started arriving which included:

SAVOURY:
Warm Cheese Dip with Fresh Vege Crudites
Guacamole with Parmesan Straws
Sweet Potato Scones with Herbed Cream Cheese
Mini Corn Muffins with Sour Cream & Pancetta
Bacon Shortbread with Tomato Jam
Mini Roast Vege Frittata
Polenta Wedges with Bocconcini and Cherry Tomato
Rolled Omelette with Smoked Salmon
Caramelised Onion and Feta Tartlets
Thai Chicken Cakes
Chicken Tenders
Sesame Prawn Toast

SWEETS:
Mini Mud Cakes with Choc Ganache
Lemon Curd Tarts
Macadamia, Cherry & Coconut Truffles
Melting Moments
Meringue Kisses with Pink Choc
Choc Mousse in Coconut Cups
Raspberry, Lime & Coconut Friands

May we say that Tina is an amazing cook. The food just kept flowing and tantalised every taste bud. In saying this, you can find Tina at The Handmade Expo on November 15th with her amazing sweets. If you need to find her, please come and see us at the entrance...we would be more than happy to point you in her direction.

Tina also has some amazing friends that helped out all day to help make the day amazing as well.

All the guests looked fabulous all out in something pink.

We were lucky enough to have a lady down from Breast Screen Australia to do a short talk on their services which are now in Ipswich together with a big support group.

Please find attached some photos of the day. We are proud to announce that Tina's wonderful efforts and the support from her family and friends raised an astonishing$1812.50.

Very well done to all involved...a great day had by all.

October..Been, Gone and Great.

Hello

What a great day. We just have so much fun. From setting up the pavilion on the Thursday and the Friday (which we think we now have down pat into 1 day...if all goes to plan)! to watching and helping the stallholders set up from 5:30am (or a little earlier for some), to opening the doors to the public waiting to come in at 8am.
The weather was fabulous for our outdoor stallholders, I think it made some of our indoor stallholders wish they were outside! The customers flowed in and out all day, eating sausages, drinking coffee and sucking on snow cones (all of which will be back next month).
We had very close to 1000 people through the door this month...very close to last months numbers. So, thank you to everyone who came through the door this month to support The Handmade Expo and also the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). Don't forget, some of our proceeds go to this wonderful cause. Speaking of NBCF, Amanda and Susan from THE CUPCAKE STALL, sold their 100 NBCF cupcakes, so another donation to this great charity. GOOD WORK GIRLS.
There is only 10 weeks until Xmas...So, if you didn't start your xmas shopping this month, we will no doubt see you on November 15th to start. Our stallholders are very busy making XMASY things for you to purchase before the big day.
Here are some photos of the wonderful day.

ATT: ALL JEWELLERY STALLHOLDERS

Hello

We have had a couple of customers/stallholders request something different in the jewellery department that they require or did not see at the previous Handmade Expo's.

1. A customer has requested a certain piece of jewellery.
She was wondering if anyone can make a magnetic necklace that doesn't have to be fastened at the back but just rather click together. She is specifically looking for someone to make quite a few of these necklaces and would like a small plain cross in the middle on them.
If this is something you can do, please email Dorothy at: dinobjw@bigpond.com

2. Miriam is needing a chain extension. She is wanting to turn a chunky necklace into a belt.
If this is something that you can do, please email Miriam at: miriamandjeff@optusnet.com.au

Thanks Heaps

Our Advertising Campaign starts for OCTOBER

Where do we begin.
First of all, we were totally suprised when one of our wonderful stallholders, Trish Goodfield from Trishalan Designs ( trishalandesigns.blogspot.com ) emailed us and told us what a great little blurb we had posted in the Sunday Mail today...mmmm!!! so, all of us raced out to grab the Sunday Mail and to our amazement, they had taken it upon themselves to place this write up in for us:

Our awesome signs went up around Ipswich today...thanks again Mitch

Plus the 2 massive banners went up. You will see one hanging at the showgrounds and the other is once again hanging in the main street of Ipswich:

Don't forget to tune into River 94.9 this week.
We will also be in the Queensland Times, Ipswich Independent, The Ipswich News and The Advertiser.

This month and from now on, we will be distributing our flyers around the Ipswich area. Our main focus in October is to get the wonderful customers through the door. We have this month, distributed 2000. All printed by hand by the 3 of us. We will also have flyers on hand at the Expo, so if you would like a bundle to distribute yourself, please feel free to come and grab some.

If you see any advertising that is not mentioned in this post, would you be so kind to email us at: thehandmadeexpo@optusnet.com.au

Only 6 sleeps to go.
See you next Saturday
